This is a spread from "The Spooky Sound", which I had the pleasure of illustrating for the Step into Reading series for Random House. I usually start with a small thumbnail and then, once my final pencil is approved, I proceed to paint.

I used Adobe Photoshop to paint the final background and character levels.

Here is the final pencil (I usually use a Tombow HB pencil or mechanical when necessary).

I was pleasantly surprised when my wife found my book on Amazon the other day. It won't be out until next summer, but you can preorder it already! I'm still in the process of fixing up some of the interior paints. As always, I am very grateful for the opportunity to work on these books.
