Special screenings

For the 25th anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly the Disney/MGM Studios), some of us had the honor of being invited back to the Animation building to host private screenings of two of the films we helped create here in Florida, "Mulan" and "Lilo and Stitch". The audience consisted of current Cast Members who work at that Park and their guests, and it was a pleasure to share our experiences and answer questions about a studio that contributed so much to the heritage of the Company.

A couple of studios

Back in 1995, at the almost finished Feature Animation building in Burbank, CA (I'm the second guy on the left).

I moved to the Florida Studio in 1997, a year or two before this photo was taken. This building was finished after completion of "Mulan".

Last drawing at WDFAF

It was about this time, ten years ago, that I did my last official drawing at Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida as it was closing; it was for "The Little Matchgirl", a beautiful if heartbreaking musical short intended for inclusion in a Fantasia sequel. It's one of the five Hans Christian Andersen classics that Disney has depicted in animation, the others being "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" and "Frozen" (based on "The Snow Queen").

Along with a little Mickey, I wrote along the bottom: "Thanks to God for the blessings of a ten-year career at Disney - my dream came true every day."

Films and shorts

Films I've worked on, including three direct-to-DVD, some shorts, and one for Universal. ("A Few Good Ghosts" was the last feature we were ramping up for at the Florida Studio, before its cancellation.)

John Henry

For the animated short "John Henry", we cleaned-up the rough animation in a very loose, sketchy style. It was a very enjoyable project to be a part of.

"Beast"-ly work

These are some of the clean-up drawings I did for the "Human Again" sequence in "Beauty and the Beast: Special Edition" (released in 2002)- specifically the scene in which Belle teaches the Beast (or rather helps him relearn) how to read, using "Romeo and Juliet". It was certainly a joy to be involved in this film.
