Way back in 2001, we spent our honeymoon in Italy, and I did my best to sketch some of Michelangelo's art.
The original David is in the Accademia Gallery in Florence.
The Doni Madonna is in the Uffizi in Florence.
This is my wife looking at the Pantheon in Rome. She was fascinated with its beauty, and I with hers!
The Pieta in St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican, Rome. I could have stood there forever, it was so beautiful. He was only 24 years old when he sculpted this.
The Pieta in the Museo Duomo in Florence, features a self portrait of Michelangelo himself - toward the end of his life - as Nicodemus.
We were lucky to get a seat on a bench in the Sistine Chapel, where I attempted to sketch a tiny portion of that unbelievable masterpiece.
